ABOUT THE AUTHOR
“Wilma you are going to get an A on that story you wrote in your High School English Class,” said my teacher. “Maybe someday you will become an author.”
Oh no! That could never be, I was too much into riding and training my horse and chasing boys. In 1940, the Anderson family mom, dad and three kids with a dog moved to Chico, CA from Los Angeles. We settled in the then barren wastelands of Cactus Ave. My brother Clinton, sister Barbara and I walked the two miles or so to the old Pleasant Valley School. I was the youngest, a tag-along called Willie. It was great horse country and we had some wonderful adventures riding in Bidwell Park.
I married young (Roy Gene Rolls) and had two sons and later a daughter. James Steven (deceased), Gene Jeffery, and Brenda Jean. Our family moved to Forest Ranch, CA, in 1963.
I have many trophies and ribbons from riding and painting but being a Christian and my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are the things I boast about the most.
“To you Lord do I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God.” (Psalm 25: 1-2) I am an artist first but I love to write, whether it is fiction or non-fiction. Of course, I get to illustrate all my stories. Sometimes when I am deep into a tale, it feels like I have stepped into another world and it is a wonderful place of privacy and freedom where I alone am in control and so I paint and write.
